Organisations

As I’m getting older I’m experiencing the lingering effects of sporting injuries on my body. I’m nowhere near as nimble or dynamic as I used to be, and my joints don’t flex and bend as smoothly, either.

Like my old and busted condition, big organisations become calcified over time. Sure, they can flex and move but nothing like they could when they were young and nimble. They’ve grown to do the thing they do quite successfully - why do they need to change?

More than that, can they truly become something new? I know I’m asking some big questions that may not have any consistently applicable answers, yet the need to ask them remains.

Big, old, calcified organisations see the necessity to change to meet the future needs of the tomorrow’s customers (hint: customers needs won’t be the same as they are today).

It’s a big challenge. One that will require engaged people creating new solutions to problems that are only now coming into view.

Sounds like an opportunity to me.
